My Favorite Fishing & Hunting Locations (by Gary Oberg) ©2019
"When I look back at some of my most favorite fishing and hunting places over the years, I always think of the Chute, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and Lake of the Woods (LOW). If you added up all the days I’ve spent at Lake of the Woods, you’d come up with about a year of my life.
Lake of the Woods is a very big lake, with 14,552 islands and about 65,000 miles of shoreline. It’s the largest lake in the USA, after the five Great Lakes, although it’s not entirely located in the USA. It’s positioned at the junction of Minnesota (south), Manitoba (northwest), and Ontario (northeast). The USA, Canada, Manitoba, and Ontario governments all cooperate in its management.”
